Google Adwords Reaches Out to iPhone and G1 Users
Google is extending their advertising realm. On Monday, the company announced that they are expanding the functionality of Google AdWords to the iPhone and G1 smartphones.
Alexandra Kenin, the product marketing manager of the Google Mobile Ads team writes on their official blog:
“The Google mobile ads team is announcing a new campaign-level option that allows those of you who are AdWords advertisers to show your desktop text and image ads on the iPhone, the T-Mobile G1, and other mobile devices with full (HTML) Internet browsers.â€
Google AdWords for the iPhone and G1 will allow advertisers to reach a broader audience, especially now that smartphones are becoming very popular.
Daniel Rubin, a spokesperson for Google said: “With this launch advertisers needn’t modify their AdWords ads nor have a mobile Web site. We hope to give advertisers more tools to extend the reach of their campaigns to deliver the most relevant ad at the right time–while users are searching or browsing on the go.â€
“We also think this feature gives advertisers more information about their campaigns with specific mobile campaign reporting, allowing them to experiment with the mobile platform in real time,” Rubin added.
Advertisers can have the option not showing their desktop ads on the smartphones. They can create separate campaigns that are made exclusively for the iPhone and G1.
Instructions for creating ads specific for iPhones and G1 phones are also written in their official blog:
“To target ads for G1 and iPhone, go to your campaign settings tab in your AdWords account. Then for the ‘Device Platform’ option under ‘Networks and Bidding,’ select ‘iPhones and other mobile devices with full internet browsers.’ As additional devices that use full browsers enter the market, your ads will show on those phones, too.â€
