Research in Motion (RIM) celebrated Blackberry’s 10th anniversary by collaborating with IBM in order to bring the Lotus software to Blackberry smartphones.

Jim Balsillie, co-CEO of RIM made the announcement during the Lotusphere held today. Blackberry users will be able to use the Lotus Symphony which will enable them to process word documents, presentations and spreadsheets on their smartphones. They will also be able to use the Lotus Quickr in order to share documents with their group.

The Lotus Symphony will be available for use during the second quarter of 2009 while the Lotus Quickr will be available at the latter half of the year.

IBM will also be incorporating Lotus Connections which is a social networking application, on Blackberry phones. Users can previously access the profiles and tags on Connections but with IBM and RIM’s team up they will now be able to access Connections’ activities, blogs and communities also on the second quarter of 2009.
